He was cleared of ALL charges the same day, I seem to remember reading. Doesn't that alone tell you anything? But, the stigma will remain with his name forever now I think, as a lot of people don't always care to listen to the follow-up's on news stories. They just heard "Pete Townshend" and "pedophile" in the same sentance...that's all they wanted (or "needed") to hear.
Having said that, no I do not believe that Pete is a child molester. He's gone through a lot of rough s**t in his life and it just seems like the world keeps handing it to him. He's an activist against child molestation since he himself was the subject to it when he was young. Truthfully, that could to a person becoming a paedophile, but Pete is an intelligent, enlightened man who has confronted his past and vowed to help others who have been put through what he did. What had happened was, Pete was researching for his biography when he stumbled across a child pornography website. Pete admitted that it was stupid of him to enter, but he was so outraged that he couldn't control himself. No actual porn was downloaded, he only used his cradit card to enter the site. The insane thing is, before he researched child molestation on the internet, he called Scotland yard and told them what he would be doing. Pete is not a paedophile, and I agree with Elaine.

the same sort of thing happned with Paul McCartney, he was apparantly reseaching something, breast cancer i think, and he was caught on porn sites etc.
